FAQ
Are your copper pitchers made of pure copper?
Yes, all of our copper pitchers are made of 100% pure high-grade food-safe copper. We do not use any other metals, alloy or lining. All of our copper pitchers are of exceptional high quality and will last a lifetime. Unfortunately, many other manufacturers (mostly those based in India and China and selling on Amazon) falsely claim to sell pure copper pitchers that are actually plain metal pitchers plated with copper. The copper plating will start to rub off these pitchers after only a few months of use. Many of our customers came to us and bought one of our pure copper pitchers after having a bad experience with one of these manufactures. While these manufacturers are able to offer their pitchers for sale at a lower price than our pitchers, please beware - they are not the real thing!
In addition, many other sellers are selling copper pitchers that are coated on the interior with a lacquer that is toxic and should definitely not be in your drinking water. Our copper pitchers are pure and contain absolutely no toxic materials of any kind.
Unfortunately, many other manufactures also do not construct their copper pitchers to the same level of quality that we do. As a result, some customers have reported that copper shards have peeled off the inner surface of the copper pitchers that they bought from other sellers, with those shards ending up in their drinking water!
Please make sure to do you research and invest in a quality copper pitcher. To assist in that process, please see our blog post to learn our recommended three-step process for ensuring that you are choosing the copper pitcher that is right for you.
Are your copper pitchers handmade?
Yes, all of our copper pitchers are handmade by skilled artisans using traditional methods. As a result, every pitcher will be unique and may have some imperfections which add to the character of the piece.
Why are your copper pitchers hammered?
All of our copper pitchers are hammered by hand. We hammer our pitchers for two important reasons: to create a beautiful aesthetic that will look gorgeous in your kitchen or other living space, and to increase the surface area of copper on the inside of the pitcher which makes contact with the water stored within it. The greater the physical contact between the water and your copper pitcher, the greater the health benefits for you and your family.
How is the handle attached to the copper pitcher?
All of our copper pitchers are handcrafted with handles that have been welded (rather than riveted) to the body of the copper pitcher, which leaves it intact on the inside and ensures that it remains water-tight and leak-free. This is the best way to attach a handle to a copper water pitcher.
Unfortunately, many other manufacturers (mostly based in India and selling on Amazon) sell copper pitchers with riveted handles. Because their handles are riveted rather than welded, the rivets create holes in the body of the pitcher. This results in leakage, which the manufacturers try to prevent by applying glue to the rivets.
Unfortunately, the glue that these manufacturers use is quite toxic and contaminates the water. Many of our customers came to us after having a bad experience with one of these manufactures. Please make sure to do your research and avoid them!

How long should I store water in the copper pitcher?
For best results, we suggest leaving water in your copper pitcher overnight at room temperature for about 6 to 8 hours, and then drinking 2 to 3 glasses of water from the pitcher first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
Can I put my pitcher in the refrigerator or freezer?
You can store your pitcher in the fridge if desired (keeping in mind that it is best to drink room temperature water), however you should never place your copper pitcher in the freezer as it could explode.
What does water stored in a copper pitcher taste like?
It takes fresh, clean and pure! Although you might expect the water to taste metallic, most people cannot detect anything metallic in the water. Although water stored in a copper pitcher will absorb the beneficial health quantities of copper, it doesn't absorb enough copper to noticeably change the taste of the water.
Can I use lemon or other fruit with my copper pitcher?
There are plenty of benefits of drinking lemon water and it's a great idea to combine those benefits with the benefits of water stored in a copper pitcher. To maximize the health benefits, allow water to sit in your copper pitcher overnight and then combine the water with lemon slices or lemon juice in a cup or separate container. Copper can react with certain acids, including citric acid found in lemons, so it's best to only use water in your copper pitcher.
Can I use coffee, tea, juice, or sparkling water in my copper pitcher?
Because copper can react with acidic liquids (anything with a pH of less than 7), we recommend only using water in your copper pitcher.
Can I use essential oils with my copper pitcher?
While we don't recommend adding essential oils directing into your copper pitcher (as certain very acidic essential oils can react with the copper), you can certainly add essential oils to your copper-charged water in a separate container.
Will water stored in a copper pitcher become alkaline?
Yes! Storing water in your copper pitcher is a great way to make natural alkaline water. Drinking alkaline water helps balance the body's pH level and can be a great way to support a healthy lifestyle.
What type of water should I use in my copper pitcher?
You can use any type of water in your copper pitcher, including tap water, water that has been passed through a filter, or even bottled water. You will probably notice the greatest difference with tap water, which is generally the least alkaline and in the need of the most care. Although tap water is generally fine in most first-world cities, you may wish to consider filtering your water before pouring it into your copper pitcher.
Can I get too much copper if I drink from my copper water pitcher all the time?
Although the concept of storing water in copper vessels arose centuries ago and has its origins in Ayurvedic medicine, it is increasingly gaining attention from the mainstream scientific community. In one recent study, it was determined not only that water stored in a copper vessel can have attractive health benefits, but also that there is no realistic risk of getting too much copper using that method.
In particular, the study notes that the World Health Organization has concluded that it is safe for the body to ingest 2mg of copper per litre of water. Significantly, the research showed that the water stored in the copper vessel for a significant period of time absorbed less than 1/20th of that amount of copper, very far below safe limits.
Should I clean my copper pitcher before using it for the first time?
Your copper water pitcher will be ready to keep you hydrated as soon as it arrives, but we do recommend washing the inside with warm water and a drop of liquid soap before filling it up with drinking water for the first time.
How do I polish and clean my copper pitcher?
Easy! Your copper pitcher is made of 100% pure copper, so it will naturally patina over time. Many of our customers like having the exterior of their pitcher age gracefully into a beautiful copper patina, but, if you prefer the shine of copper, it is very easy to remove. Simply sprinkle a pinch of salt on a slice of lemon, allow the salt to dissolve, and then gently rub it on the surface of your pitcher. The lemon and salt will form a mixture that will naturally remove the patina and restore the copper’s shine. Once done, rinse with water and dry well.
The inside of the pitcher will also patina, but this has no effect on the quality of the water stored inside the pitcher. We recommend cleaning the inside of your pitcher every now and then with warm water and a drop of liquid soap, and then rinsing it well. Less frequently you can also clean the pitcher with the lemon and salt method mentioned above. However, be sure to never wash your copper pitcher in a dishwasher.
Is it leak-free?
Each of our copper water pitchers is specifically handcrafted to be completely leak-free. You can fill it to the brim with water with confidence that it will stay water-tight!
What are the dimensions of your copper pitchers?
Our 1.5 liter pitchers are approximately 7.25 inches in height (to the top of the brass cap) and approximately 4 inches in diameter.
Our 2.1 liter pitchers are approximately 7.5 inches in height (to the top of the brass cap) and approximately 4.5 inches in diameter.
